What size apartments do you have? |

Sunchase at Longwood offers 4 bedroom apartments that are 1,415 square feet. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. |

What is a contingency lease? |
|
We have you sign a contingency because we allow our residents to renew up until a certain date. We ask all new residents to sign a contingency lease that would allow us to move you to your second choice apartment, if the current residents of your first choice apartment renews. This ensures all new residents that they will have an apartment for the upcoming year. |

What are the parking procedures? |
|
Each new resident must register their car with Sunchase during the move in process when keys are picked up. There are no assigned parking spaces; it is first come first serve. You do not need to register your visitor's vehicle. However, visitors cannot park close to the building as those spaces are for the residents. |

What is the late fee? How and when is it applied? |
|
If you do not pay your rent on or before the 5th, regardless of holidays and/or weekends, a $40 late fee will be applied to your account on the 6th. |

When is rent due and what form of payment is accepted? |
|
Rent is due on the first day of each month. We provide a 5 day grace period. We accept checks, money orders or credit / debit cards for methods of rent payment. We do NOT accept cash. Please note there is a minimal charge to use credit or debit cards. |

Am I responsible if my roommates don't pay their rent? |
|
No, you sign an individual lease which makes you responsible for paying the rent on your bedroom, bathroom, and shared common area. |

What if I do not have 3 other roommates? |
|
You do not have to be a group of 3 or 4 to lease at Sunchase. Individuals are welcome and we will match you as closely as we can with others who need roommates. Any rooms that are not vacant in the apartment will remain locked, as you will not be allowed to use any vacant rooms. You are responsible for your leased bedroom, bathroom, and have shared responsibility in the common areas. |

Can I change my lease dates or move in early? |
|
Lease dates cannot be changed because they are set to the individual apartment. There may be a possibility to change dates, please contact the office for more information |

How and when do I pick up keys to my apartment? |
|
You may pick up your keys beginning at noon on the day your lease begins. You will complete your move-in forms and we will give you your keys to your new apartment. At this time you pay your pro-rated move-in rent and any fees/deposits still owed. |

Do you have to be a student to live at Sunchase? |
|
No. Sunchase Apartments complies with all state and federal fair housing laws. We will lease to any applicant that qualifies based on our rental criteria. |

How close to campus are you and is there transportation? |
|
We are approximately 2 miles from Longwood University. There is a local area bus that will drop you off at campus, but it is not a direct route to campus. We are 15 miles from Hampden-Sydney College. |

What money is due when I sign my lease? |
|
A total of $285 is due, which includes a $35 Application Fee, $100 refundable security deposit, and $150 non-refundable restoration fee. |

Does every bedroom have its own bathroom? |
|
Yes, in the 4 bedroom apartments each bedroom has its own bathroom. |

Which utilities do I have to pay? |
|
Electricity, *cable, *phone, and *internet (* = optional utilities) |

How much are the average utilities? |
|
Electricity is through Dominion Virginia Power (1-888-667-3000 or www.dom.com), and can range from $100-$150 per month and is billed by the apartment. Cable, phone, and internet are through NTC Communications (1-888-201-8420 or www.ntc-com.com). Cable is $50 per month and is billed by the apartment. Phone is $20 per month and can be set-up on an individual basis or for the whole apartment. Internet is $26 per month and is billed per person. *Rates are estimation only |

Do you require a security deposit? |
|
The total deposit required is $250, of which there is a refundable security deposit of $100. The remaining $150 is a non-refundable restoration fee. The total $250 is required at the time you sign your lease. |

Do you offer different lease terms? |
|
All leases have are fixed term leases. Our apartments have assigned lease dates, and all rooms in a unit will start and end on the same day. However, we offer a limited number of 10 month and semester leases. For short term leases, additional fees apply. |

How do I qualify for an apartment? |
|

What is a guarantor? |
|
A guarantor is also known as a co-signer. This person guarantees the prompt payment of all payments of rent and all other charges, expenses and cost of every kind and nature, which may become due under the terms of the lease; and guarantees resident's performance of the terms and conditions of the lease and rules, regulations and related obligations arising by reason of the lease. |

Do you allow pets and what are the fees? |
|
Yes, we allow 2 pets per apartment, which include dogs, cats, fish and birds. A $175 one-time, non-refundable pet fee and a $30 monthly pet rent are required per pet. No aggressive-breed dogs or puppies or mixes of such breeds are allowed at Sunchase at Longwood (i.e. Rottweilers, Pit bulls, Dobermans, Chows, German Shepherds, American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bulldog, etc.).
